Chapter 11: Building Green

These days, many people start thinking about 'sustainable development' which is aim to protect the environment without inhibiting the needs of peolpe. For instance, the buildings around us are becoming greener and more economical. To let the sunshine in, builders make biger windows. the sun can not only offer heat and light but also enable solar cells to store electricity. Some green Buildings have an entire roof garden that keeps building cooler when it's summer and warm when it's winter. They also use the minimum amount of fresh water and reuse the water by storing rainwater. The materials used to build green buildings are also green. They use bamboo instead of trees and use recycled materials. Still,only a small amount of buildings are green buildings but surely the buildings around us will become greener in the near future.
I always try to protect the environment but I didn't knew that there are such a great building that not only help people but also good for the environment. I hope to see more green buildings being built in Korea.
