I haven’t read any British English book before, except the Harry Potter that I read in Korean first and couldn’t read all of it still. I thought British English book would be different from the American English one since the pronunciation is different. However it was almost the same. The only difference I could find was the spellings like colour. So it was easier to read the book than I expected.
Adrian Mole is an English boy who calls himself an intellectual. He reads lots lf books and some times he wrote a poem and sends it to the BBC. He lives with his parents and a dog. When he was 13 years old, a girl named Pandora became a new student in his class and he fell in love with her. However his best friend Nigel became Pandora’s boy friend. Adrian is a little bit jealous with Nigel because he’s rich and Pandora is his girl friend. On January 20th, Adrian went to meet Bert Baxter and helped him with housework because he is a member of a school club called the Good Samaritans. At first, Adrian hated Bert because he always complains of what Adrian does and he drinks and smokes a lot. However Adrian became a friend of Bert and he saved Bert’s life. Adrian’s parent got divorced and his mother went away with Mr. Lucas whom his mother was besotted with. Moreover, his father became a jobless person and the electricity was unconnected for about a week because his father wasn’t able to pay for the bill. Barry Kent threatened him to pay 25pence every day. He even got tonsillitis. It seemed like he is the most unhappy boy in the world but thing became better soon. Pandora confessed that she loves Adrian and became his girl friend. Grandma paid the electricity bill and met Barry Kant, made him never dared to say something to Adrian anymore. After all, his mother came back to his father and his father got a job as a Canal Bank Renovation Supervisor. Bert Baxter, nearly 90 years old, got married to Queenie, nearly 80 years old.
It was really good to read this in English because if this was translated in Korean, I won’t be able to feel the sarcastic and comic sentences of the original text. Another good point of reading this book was that I could learn about the teenage cultures and lifestyles in 1980s. I asked some of the events and cultural things like the wedding of the Prince Charles and Lady Dianna to my mother because she must be a teenager at that time. She told me it really was in 1980s. Although it’s not about English teenagers these days, it was still interesting. The book was hard and easy to read at the same time because this book was a diary and it had lots of events and people in it. Sometimes I wasn’t able to remember the name and had to read again from the former part and lots of small things happened which made me confused. However it was easy to read and understand because it’s about the ordinary life of a boy in my age. It felt like I’m reading a diary of my friend or my brother. Also this made me want to write a diary like Adrian. It feels like writing a diary will help me remember what happened and what I thought about it later when I grow up.

Global Warming
Have you ever seen this picture? This picture is about the melting glaciers which is often said as a result of 'the global warming'. These days we can easily hear people saying "We MUST stop the glabal warming!" but most people don't know what to do. Also some people even say that the global warming is just a natural changes of the earth's climate since it already had some glacial ages and interglacial ages. However, the global warming can be a natural change but the problem is that it advances too rapidly. So, this time I'm goimg to introduce diverse efforts to prevent the global warming in 2 points of view; a personal effort and a national effort.
First of all, to help preventing the global warming with personal efforts, we have to do things in our daily life. The biggest problem is that people know what should they do and they TRY to do things like recycling to protect the environment but it only last for once. We have to accept things like recycling and using less vehicles in our daily life. To remind some people, I'll state 10 things we can do in our daily life to protect our mother Earth.
- Change an electric bulb into a fluorescent light.
- Walk more and use less personal vehicle.
- Do recycling.
- Check the tire whether it has proper amount of air in it.
- Use less warm water.
- Use less packing.
- Lower 2°C inner temperature in winter and highten 2°C inner temperature in summer.
- Plant trees.
- Turn off electronic devices while not using it.
- Try to use Green Energy.
Secondly, there are some things that a nation can do to protect the environment. A nation have to promote the use and production of green energy. It still cost a lot to produce the green energy so a single company can't make green energy. So the nation have to spend more money to help companis which try to develope the green energy. Also the government have to advertise the green energy to it's citizen because some people are not able to use the green energy because they don't know how and where to get it.
As a conclusion, a person have to make preventive actions a part of their daily life and a nation have to support a person and a company which tries to prevent the global warming. Now the global warming is not a problem for countries at risk. The whole world have to fighting off global warming.
